110 single �slide single lens element. See simple lens. single-lens reflex (SLR). A film or digital camera in which a system of mirrors shows the user the image precisely as the lens renders it. camera flash (important for wedding photographers). A protective rubber or plastic housing designed to fit tightly over an electronic device while providing full access to controls. sky filter. A graduated filter designed to darken the sky while leaving the foreground exposure unaltered. skylight. Light coming from the sky rather than directly from the sun. skylight filter. A filter that absorbs ultraviolet radiation and is usually tinted light pink or yellow to neutralize the blueness inherent in skylight. sky shade. An alternative term for a lens shade. slave eye. A sensor used to trigger a slave flash unit. slave flash. Self-contained electronic flash unit that responds to external triggers. Optical slaves are triggered by the light from another flash unit. Digital slaves are triggered by pulses of white light or infrared energy that are encoded with digital messages.
