However notes can also be lower or higher than the stave accommodates. For example:飥�飦�飦�飦�飦�飦�飦�In order to measure exactly which space or line the note fits on, small xtra�lines have to be drawn. These extra lines should be spaced the same distance apart as those on the stave. These extra lines are called ledger lines. You may find it helpful to make up a word or a memorable sentence to help you with note learning. Here an example for each different clef. There are of course many variations on these sentences, and you may prefer to make up one of your own for the clef(s) your instrument uses.
