38 鈻�Your leisureBritish Association of Friends of Museums (BAFM) is an umbrella organisation that acts as a national forum for Friends and volunteers who support museums around the United Kingdom. It shares news, provides advice on good practice, holds regional meetings and also produces a number of publications including a Handbook on setting up and running a Friends�organisation. Many museums offer the opportunity, through membership of a Friends�group, of rewarding voluntary activity. If you like the idea, enquire locally or contact the Association to discover what scope exists in your area. Members enjoy free entry to exhibitions and evening openings as well as information about lectures, study days and isits behind the scenes� A mailing including the events programme and the British Museum Magazine is sent three times a year. Friends of the Fitzwilliam Museum receive regular mailings with information about museum events including exhibitions, concerts, lectures and parties. There are visits to other museums and historic houses in the Cambridge area and throughout the United Kingdom, and trips to overseas cities are also arranged.
